About Buddha of Lanka
Rediscover the Roots of Enlightenment
Welcome to Buddha of Lanka, a platform born from curiosity, courage, and a deep reverence for truth.
For centuries, the world has accepted one version of Lord Buddha’s origin. But ancient Sri Lankan chronicles, archaeological whispers, and spiritual traditions hint at a forgotten path—one that suggests the Enlightened One may have walked the sacred soil of Sri Lanka long before modern borders and rewritten history took shape.
Buddha of Lanka is more than a website. It is a journey of rediscovery, a call to seekers, and a sanctuary for sacred knowledge that challenges what we think we know. Through in-depth articles, sacred site guides, ancient manuscripts, and pilgrimage resources, we aim to shed light on the untold stories that connect Lord Buddha’s life to the island once known as Heladiva or Lankadeepa.

Meet the Researcher Behind the Journey
My name is Aquila Heman Senanayake Mudiyanselage. I was born in 1982 to a Protestant Christian family in Sri Lanka, but today I proudly call myself a Christian Buddhist — someone who honors both spiritual paths in search of truth.
By profession, I work as a service technician for a German company in Dubai, UAE. But beyond my day job, I’ve always had questions — deep questions. From my school days, I found myself doubting mythological stories and searching instead for reality, reason, and historical truth.
Buddha of Lanka is my humble effort to contribute to that truth. To go beyond the legends and explore whether the true story of the Buddha — and the spirit of enlightenment itself — may be deeply rooted in my own homeland of Sri Lanka.
This is not just a research project. It’s my way of reconnecting with heritage, reclaiming lost history, and offering a bridge between faiths, facts, and forgotten wisdom.
Thank you for walking this path with me. If this story touches something in you — welcome home.
