This post reveals our full interpretation of the Council Chamber Pillar Inscription at Polonnaruwa — known officially as IN03158 (EZ IV, Plate 5). Unlike conventional readings, we’ve only relied on what is carved on the stone and AI-aided visual decoding.
Why This Inscription Matters
This is no ordinary pillar. It records land grants, service conditions, place names, and even spiritual dedications — all in Brahmi/Sinhala characters. The carving is divided into four panels (A, B, C, D), each containing a distinct message.
Most mainstream scholars treat this as a simple land deed. But we believe it holds deep historical truth — including references to sacred sites like Hiriwadunna, Dhanwiye, and a special line “Cirā Cisi Vici Sitān”, hidden in plain sight.

- Such labels were likely colonial assumptions — reflecting Chola-era influence, not actual ethnicity.
